New Homeowner Moves to the Northwood Community

March 3, 2017 West Palm Beach, FL – Neighborhood Renaissance, Inc. closed on the sale of a single-family home located on 38th St. in Northwood to Leandra Silfa who works as a case manager for Adoptive-A-Family of the Palm Beaches, Inc. In addition to becoming a new home owner, Ms. Silfa and her 10-year old son just welcomed a new baby girl to their family. “I am so happy to have the security of owning my own home where I can raise my family.” The nonprofit development corporation constructed the 4 bedroom and 2.5 bath Florida style bungalow home in 2008 with assistance from the City of West Palm Beach and Palm Beach County’s Dept. of Economic Sustainability.

Neighborhood Renaissance Wins Annual TD Charitable Foundation Housing for Everyone Affordable Housing Grant Competition, Awarded $100,000 for the Mango Cove Apartment Community

December 14, 2016 – West Palm Beach, FL –Neighborhood Renaissance, Inc. was recently awarded a $100,000 affordable housing grant through the TD Charitable Foundation’s Housing for Everyone grant competition. The grant will be used to help fund the development of 36 newly built apartments on 8 acres located within Palm Beach County’s Urban Redevelopment Area at 1561 Florida Mango Road.

The energy efficient 2 bedroom units will be within the financial reach of low and moderate income families with rents $150 below market and is located near good schools, shopping, public transportation and recreational facilities. On site amenities include a playground and picnic area, and a washer and dryer in each unit.

“We’re going to be offering a quality product at a reasonable rent” said Michael Pecar, real estate development director at Neighborhood Renaissance. According to Palm Beach County official, Ed Lowery, “This effort is the culmination of a lot of planning and prayer that brought good people together for the benefit of residents who need an affordable and decent home.”

This year’s “Housing for Everyone” theme was Affordable Housing for Single Parent Families, focusing on initiatives that support the development of safe, clean, accessible housing for families headed by a single individual (parent, grandparent or guardian).

The Housing for Everyone grant competition is one of the TD Charitable Foundation’s most widely known signature programs. The competition invites local non-profit organizations from Maine to Florida to submit proposals outlining their plans and initiatives to support and provide affordable housing initiatives in their communities. Twenty-five organizations throughout TD Bank’s footprint from Maine to Florida were awarded a $100,000 grant for a total grant donation of $2.5 million in 2016.

West Palm Beach, FL – Neighborhood Renaissance, Inc. closed on the sale of a single-family home located on 39th St. in Northwood to first-time buyers Diego and Nelva.  The nonprofit development corporation constructed the 4 bedroom and 2.5 bath Florida style bungalow home in 2008 with assistance from the City of West Palm Beach and Palm Beach County’s Dept. of Economic Sustainability.

Prior to purchasing their home, Diego and Nelva rented a small 2BR/1BA cottage in the same neighborhood for $1,300 per month where they lived for the past 3 years with their three children: ages 18, 6 and 1 years old. With the birth of their youngest son Jonathon, they quickly outgrew their cottage and began looking for a larger home.  The fact that they could own a home for less than renting, enticed them to become homeowners.  Because of low interest rates and Neighborhood Renaissance’s affordably priced home, their monthly housing cost as homeowners, including property taxes is about half of what they paid as renters.  This savings is helping the couple to support their oldest daughter’s college education who is attending Florida Atlantic University. Monica plans to become an anesthesiologist.

RFP for Legal Services – Art Lofts at West Village

Neighborhood Renaissance is requesting proposals from law firms to provide legal services for our project in Lake Worth as described in the attached solicitation. The project is funded in part by federal funds and is subject to HUD procurement procedures. The requested scope of services is not expected to exceed $25,000 from acquisition of the project in September through the final sales of the townhomes by the end of 2017.

This project is partially funded by Neighborhood Stabilization Program 2 through the Lake Worth Community Redevelopment Agency (CRA).
