The Coleman Park Oral History Project is a partnership between the Neighborhood Renaissance and the Community Foundation of Palm Beach and Martin Counties. The goal of the project was to celebrate and energize the Coleman Park neighborhood’s entrepreneurial spirit and appreciate Black owned businesses along the N. Tamarind Ave corridor. To preserve stories from resident elders of places, products and services ingrained in their memories and capture the neighborhoods oral history before it is lost. Four elders representing the Coleman Park community were interviewed by 4 youth researchers about life growing up in Coleman Park. Through their research and interviews, the youth highlighted the elders’ experiences patronizing the small businesses on North Tamarind Ave and what it was like growing up in Coleman Park. Meet our team, the elders, and their stories.
